Jean Shopping 101

Jean Shopping 101

I’ve found over the years that shopping for jeans is probably the hardest thing to do! There are certain rules that you have to follow and you have to be in a very patient mood. In order to make the process faster I have found that these tips have helped me make my shopping experience less stressful.

  • Rule #1

Try and go first thing in the morning. If you can make it to your favorite store when they first open, you can avoid the crowds, the store will be clean,  and a sales associate will be able to provide you with excellent customer service.

  • Rule #2

Know what styles you are looking for before you go. Do you need a pair of everyday jeans? Are you looking for a dark going out pair of jeans? Try to narrow down your choices so you can walk into the store with your game face on.

  • Rule #3

Bring a friend who always gives you honest opinions about how you look. You will definitely want an honest second opinion.

  • Rule #4

When in doubt, size down!!!! Your jeans will stretch out so much and you don’t want to get stuck with a pair of baggy jeans (unless that’s the look you are going for). If you are able to fit the smaller size comfortably buy those. The denim will stretch and curve to your natural body type and after a few wears they will fit perfect

  • Rule #5

Invest in a good tailor. Most department stores have a in-house tailor that will come and hem your jeans or take in the waist if needed. A good tailor will always be your best friend. If you are short like me, you will always have to get your jeans hemmed. Invest in keeping the original hem of the jean. It makes the jeans look flawless.

Rule #6

Don’t be afraid to try on new styles and find out exactly what cut is the best for your body type. You may be comfortable with a boot cut jean but try to be open about trying on a pair of skinny jeans. Contrary to popular belief, skinny jeans are not for skinny people! They flatter a lot of different body types so try to keep an open mind.

I hope that these tips help with your next jean shopping trip! Keep an open mind and try on different styles and washes until you find that perfect pair of jeans.

Happy Shopping!
